Accreditation
Accreditation is an
assessment of competence and is the second and ultimate level of conformity
assessment in a system which assures that commercial operators abide by
agreed rules of operation and standards. The IOAS is an international accreditor working in only one
technical field, that of organic agriculture. This means that all its
personnel are experts in this one field and coming from around the world
bring a broad understanding to its work.
Accreditation by the IOAS is available
to any certification body, in any country, active in the field of organic
agriculture. Accreditation by the IOAS provides confidence to regulatory
bodies, to the trade and ultimately the consumer that organic operations
certified by the body comply with national or international requirements.
IOAS currently offers the following assessments
against:
Where necessary, for regulatory or
market purposes, certification bodies may apply for combined assessments.
The IOAS can perform such assessments at small additional costs when done
simultaneously. Please review our fee schedule.
The IOAS itself is recognised as
conforming to international guidelines on the implementation of
accreditation services (ISO/IEC Guide 17011) by the National Institute of
Standards & Technology (NIST), part of the US Department of Commerce.

certificate. We have also been audited by the Canadian Organic Office
and have been recognised by them as an approved Conformity Verification Body
under the Canadian Organic Regime.
