Agrior
Ltd - Israel
Agrior was established by IBOAA, the Israel Bio Organic
Agriculture Association and provides organic inspection and certification
services within Israel. The company works according to the IBOAA standards
and Agrior's independent operating manual. Agrior were granted IFOAM
Accreditation in 2001.
The company, Agrior Ltd., was registered in December 1999
by IBOAA after a period of change, which lasted nearly one and a half years.
During this period efforts were made to redefine IBOAA's objectives, work
methods and division of responsibility. Agrior began operating as an
independent entity on January 1st 2000.
A main aim of the organisation is to build an inspection
and certification system for organic producers which enables the development
of trust in all organic activities in Israel.
In 2003 Agrior underwent some exciting changes, not least
of which was that it was bought by the Israeli Plants Production and
Marketing Council. The strategy behind the move was to concentrate the
organic certification in Israel under one professional body that will be
accredited by the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture. In April 2004, Agrior was
approved under the authority of the Plant Protection and Inspection Services
of the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture (PPIS), to certify Organic produce
destined to EU countries. The Board appoint a sector/based Certification
Committee who are responsible for all certification decisions.
Agrior are clear in their role and position in the
organic industry in Israel. They understand 'customers sensitivity to the
integrity and quality of organic food production and marketing processes
which necessitate the presence of a professional system to ensure that
products comply with expectations'.
The IFOAM Accredited certification programme of Agrior
covers crop production, livestock, processing, aquaculture, input
manufacturing and retail.
Main products from Agrior operators are a wide range of
fruit and vegetables. Agrior also operates inspection and certification
projects in Palestinian authority, Greece and Uzbekistan & Kyrgistan. In
2004 Agrior achieved ISO65 accreditation under the IOAS with scope of IBOAA
standards.
Agrior also operate a US NOP programme and a conventional
honey quality system which are not covered by their IFOAM Accreditation.
