AsureQuality Ltd - New Zealand

AsureQuality is Australasia's largest provider of food and agricultural quality assurance. In addition to a comprehensive range of food safety and biosecurity services that span the entire food supply chain, AsureQuality offers certification for organic food and organic food production systems. Organic operators throughout New Zealand, Malaysia, the Cook Islands and Vanuatu are provided with expert audit, inspection, verification and certification services - whether they are in the dairy, meat, seafood, horticulture, wine or arable industries.

Accredited by the world's leading organic organisation, IFOAM, the AsureQuality Organic Standard gains market access to the USA, European Union, Australia, South East Asia, the UK and Japan. It is based on the international Codex Alinorm 99/22, the European Union Regulations and the Australian National Standard. AsureQuality also holds JAS-ANZ accreditation to ISO Guides 62, 65, 66 and ISO 17020, and is recognised as an Approved Certification Body under the USDA NOP Certification Programme.

Whilst AsureQuality's robust portfolio of international accreditations takes considerable resources to maintain, the Company is dedicated to retaining its status as one of the world's most technically competent and accredited food safety and biosecurity companies. Producers, processors and products that have been certified to AsureQuality's Organic Standard can display the AsureQuality organic mark, and are given a unique customer number that guarantees traceability and accountability throughout the supply chain.

In order to obtain certification with the AsureQuality Organic Standard, applicants undergo an inspection and then an internal certification panel review. The panel consists of qualified AsureQuality personnel that must reach a unanimous decision. Certification decisions from the panel are also reviewed monthly via an external certification committee.

In 2006, there were over 230 producers certified (or in the process of applying for certification) in AsureQuality's organic programme, and over 130 processors and manufacturers. In addition to certifying against its own organic standard, AsureQuality also offers certification to individual standards.
