Established in Argentina in 1991, ARGENCERT was
recognized by the EEC as organic certifier for that market in 1992 and was
granted the IFOAM Accreditation in 1998, being the first Certification Body
in that country to achieve that accreditation.
Since its foundation, ARGENCERT has had a steady growth,
standing as one of the largest certifiers in Argentina. It certifies a wide
range of products (apples, pears, oils, beef, grains, wine, honey, etc)
which are traded worldwide.
Argencert also carries
ISO 65/EN 45011 accreditation, granted by DAP in 2002.
ARGENCERT is a private company with inspection and
certification as main objectives, as stated in its founding Act. Given its
private nature, a stockholders body delegates oversight of the company to a
special sector represented Policy Sub-Committee which is responsible for
general policy direction of the company and to ensure stakeholder
involvement.
Besides the ARGENCERT private standards and the IFOAM
Seal Program, it certifies against other organic and food quality programs
as NOP (USDA accredited in 2002), (EEC) N° 2092/91 and GLOBALGAP (accredited
by DAP).
It is approved to certify organic Argentine products to
be exported to Japan under the Equivalence Agreement Argentina signed with
that country (M.O.U., 2006) and recognized by the Authorities of Québec,
Canada (CAAQ, now CARTV).
Argencert also inspects for other CBs certification
programs and audits the use of several seals.
ARGENCERT is founding member of the Argentine Movement
for the Organic Production (MAPO), member of the ACBs (IFOAM Accredited
Certification Bodies), CERTIBIONET, Associate Member of the OTA (Organic
Trade Association, USA), IOIA, participates at the ITF (International Task
Force in Harmonization and Equivalence in Organic Agriculture), etc.
