COSMOS Accreditation
The COSMOS standard is an
international standard for organic and natural cosmetics, set up to address
the needs of consumers, the industry and the environment.
The standard is owned by
COSMOS-Standard AISBL, an international non-profit association established
by a group of standards associations: BDIH (Germany), Cosmebio (France),
Ecocert (Geenlife), ICEA (Italy) and the Soil Association (United Kingdom).
For further details about COSMOS, the standards and
the requirements for certification bodies please visit the
COSMOS-Standard AISBL web site.
To apply for COSMOS accreditation, the
applicant must first apply to COSMOS-standards AISBL on an
application form obtainable from
them. After COSMOS acceptance
of the application the certification body may then apply to the IOAS using
the standard IOAS application available here.
The standard IOAS fee schedule
applies. However for certification bodies applying to the IOAS for COSMOS
accreditation alone (or with other 'limited scope' accreditations) the
annual fee component of the fee schedule is fixed rather than linked to the
turnover of the certification body from organic programmes. This allowance
recognises the limited size of specialist programmes such as COSMOS. Please
refer to page 2 of our fee schedule
