Textile
Exchange Accreditation
Textile Exchange (previously Organic
Exchange) or TE
is a non-profit
organisation with a global multi-stakeholder approach to developing markets
in the textile value chain.
TE’s work focuses on
building demand and supply simultaneously. Their demand efforts focus at
the brand and retail level which helps to increase production from suppliers
and helps stabilize both short- and long-term production schedules.
TE have developed their OE 100 and OE
Blended standards that support fibre-only claims. In addition they have
developed certification criteria based upon the International Requirements
for Organic Certification Bodies. These are the various documents that
provide the basis for certification against the OE standard.
For further details about TE, the standards and
the requirements for certification bodies please visit the
TE web site.
To apply for TE accreditation, the
applicant must first apply to TE on an application form obtainable from
TE. After
TE acceptance
of the application the certification body may then apply to the IOAS using
the standard IOAS application available here.
The standard IOAS fee schedule
applies. However when applying for both GOTS and TE the second application
fee is reduced 50%.
In addition for certification bodies
applying to the IOAS for TE accreditation alone (or with other 'limited
scope' accreditations) the annual fee component of the fee schedule is fixed
rather than linked to the turnover of the certification body from organic
programmes. This allowance recognises the limited size of specialist
programmes such as TE. Please refer to page 2 of our fee
schedule or contact Jennyfer Karall at
