Scope Expansion on Canada’s organic equivalency arrangement with the EU

March 8, 2016

The European Union has voted in favor this week of expanding the current scope of the Canada-EU Organic Equivalency Arrangement.
Canadian certified organic processed products that include imported ingredients will now also be covered by the arrangement. The expanded scope of the arrangement will also include mutual recognition of EU and Canadian organic wine standards as being equivalent.

The new EU Regulation should be officially published in the next couple of weeks, after which the letters of equivalency arrangement will be updated.
