How to
apply for use of the IFOAM
Seal
Only IFOAM Accredited
certification bodies and their operators may use the IFOAM Seal (go here
for an explanation).
Download the Seal Licensing
Agreement and review its contents. This document, when completed and signed
will be appended to your current accreditation contract.
þ Annex 1 is the Seal Licensing Agreement
between IOAS and the CB.
þ Annex 2 will contain the combined CB/IFOAM
Seal logo once approved.
þ Annex 3 is the guideline on the design and
use of the IFOAM Seal
þ Annex 4 provides guidance language to be
developed by the CB as their agreement with their operators which governs
use of the IFOAM Seal.
Send the IOAS the design of your logo coupled with the
IFOAM seal. The IFOAM seal in JPG format is available from IOAS offices.
You should be able to open this in any graphics editor. In designing your
combination you must pay close attention to the rules in "Annex 3 -
The use of the IFOAM seal on packaged product."
Send the IOAS your contract with licensees for use of
the IFOAM seal. If the contract is not in English a translation must be
provided. As possible removal of accreditation from the certifier does not
mean that the operator can no longer use the certifiers’ logo, the IFOAM
seal license needs to be a separate agreement between you and your
licensees. In drafting this agreement you must include the standard text
in Annex 4. This document also contains some instructions to assist in
drawing up your licensee contracts.
Both the design of the combination seal and the
licensee contract must be approved by the IOAS. Once this has been done
they will both be annexed to the seal license between you and the IOAS.

Seal, please contact David Crucefix on crucefix@ioas.org
